Chickadee Camp

Ages 4-5

**To register for Chickadee Camp a camper must be 4 years old by June 17.

Chickadee Camps begin each day in the Pine Tree grove closest to our school building. On warm summer days, there is just the right balance of sunlight and shade here – also a natural playground of fallen logs, small bushes, tall ferns, and a soft pine needle ground. Chickadee campers play and work here for a good part of each day, working on projects, having free play time, and enjoying an outdoor story and rest time. Chickadee Camp also has a comfortable room inside for snacks, lunch, play, rest, and very rainy or very hot days.

Each week activities center around a theme from nature -- such as clouds, forests, birds, and animals. Counselors work to build a joyful community of campers. At morning circle, new friends are greeted and stories are shared. Campers enjoy walks in the woods and along the stream, they play in the fields and woods, make puppets, draw, paint, build forts, and more! Chickadee camp days are balanced in work, play, and rest, and counselors observe and tend to individual and group needs.

A day in Chickadee camp follows this basic schedule:

8:30  outdoor play, morning circle, and sharing

9:30 woods walk and snack

10:30 craft activity

12:00 lunch, story, rest

1:00 art, songs, outdoor games

2:00  free play and closing circle

3:00 pm pick-up
