Directions to Friends School of Portland

Located on Mackworth Island with the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MECDHH) and the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf (GBSD)

From all points South

From the Maine Turnpike (Hwy I-95):

  1. Take the Maine Turnpike (Hwy I-95) to Exit 52, 'Falmouth.'
  2. Continue on to exit for Route 1 South.
  3. Continue south on Route 1 approximately two miles past several shopping centers.
  4. Watch for a blue and white sign for the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MECDHH) on your left at Andrews Avenue.
  5. Turn left onto Andrews Avenue. Drive through the row of houses and across the causeway to the guardhouse.
  6. Let security know you are visiting the Friends School.
  7. Proceed past the speed bump and take the first right leading to the school parking lot.
  8. Friends School is across from the lot, up the stairs.

Or From Hwy I-295:

  1. Take the Maine Turnpike (Hwy I-95) to Exit 44, 'Hwy 295 North' to Exit 9 Falmouth/Foreside
  2. Continue across the Martin's Point Bridge.
  3. Watch for a blue and white sign for MECDHH and Andrews Avenue on your right.
  4. Turn right onto Andrews Avenue.
  5. Drive through the row of houses and across the causeway to the guardhouse.
  6. Let security know you are visiting the Friends School.
  7. Proceed past the speed bump and take the first right leading to the school parking lot.
  8. Friends School is across from the lot, up the stairs.

From all points North

From the Maine Turnpike (Hwy I-95):

  1. Take the Maine Turnpike (Hwy 95) to Exit 52, 'Falmouth,' continue to exit for Route 1 South.
  2. Continue south on Route 1 approximately two miles past several shopping centers.

  1. Take Hwy 295 to Falmouth Exit 10, 'Bucknam Road'. At the end of the ramp, take a left onto Bucknam Road and take Bucknam Road to the light at Route 1.
  2. Bear right.
  3. Continue south on Route 1 approximately two miles past several shopping centers.
  4. Watch for a blue and white sign for MECDHH and Andrews Avenue on your left.
  5. Turn left onto Andrews Avenue.
  6. Drive through the row of houses and across the causeway to the guardhouse.
  7. Let security know you are visiting the Friends School.
  8. Proceed past the speed bump and take the first right leading to the school parking lot.
