Fox Camp

Ages 6-8

Each week of Fox Camp centers around a nature-based theme, such as insects, mushrooms, trees, water, birds, and land & sky. In the morning, campers meet in small groups for activities related to this theme: making mushroom prints and bird puppets, taking woods and stream walks, sewing animal stuffies, and building storyboards from natural materials. In the afternoon, Fox campers have choice time – choices range from friendship bracelets, woods and stream walks, ukulele playing, and leatherwork, to group games, and more! Camper interests help guide both the small group activities and choice time offerings.

Fox Camp uses the grassy lawn outside our Meeting Room (Fox Camp’s indoor home) as base camp, from here the Foxes play and work in all directions. Up the steep hill to the east is the Highlands with the swingset and forest beyond. To the south is the Midland, and traveling west you will find Lowland, a stream, and Lil’ World. Crow Land is to the north – and Fox Campers enjoy visits to this wondrous and wild land.

Fox counselors work to create camp weeks balanced in activities and rest, group work and individual time, and celebration and reflection. Counselors work throughout the day to build a caring community in which individuals, the group, and the land are tended to and held as important parts of camp. Fox Camp also travels in our school bus one day each week to a nearby nature preserve, such as Broad Cove Reserve, for a day of exploration and fun.
