Friends Summer Computer Camp
Computer Camp for Creative Kids ages 8-14
Our summer computer camp emphasizes our core Quaker values of integrity, truth, equality, peace and community.
Our curriculum is based on the creative use of technology including video cameras, still cameras, editing software and computers. The focus will be on student-centered project based learning.
All students will work in small groups to produce a short Public Service Annoucement that could be aired on the local cable access channel.
Location, Location, Location
The Friends School of Portland is located just minutes from downtown Portland on beautiful Mackworth Island in Falmouth, Maine.
A Healthy Mix of Screen Time
Students will spend approximately 3-4 hours per day creating storyboards, writing scripts, filming images, editing, and screening their final project.
They will take daily beach strolls and nature walks to 'scout for locations' and as the 'set' for their producations.
What is included?
Campers will use digital stills and movie cameras to capture images and sound. They will also utilize Apple iLife 08 and other software programs to edit their projects.
Parents must provide a bag lunch and snack.
Summer Computer Camp Staff
Experienced teachers and video artists combine their expertise to give the young filmmaker an experience that encourages creativity using the digital medium while working as a member of a "Video Production Team."
