Experience could include camp counseling, babysitting, coaching, volunteer work, etc. Majors in Education are preferred, but not required. Ideally the applicant aligns with the Quaker values of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship, as these are the cornerstones of our school and the Aftercare Program.

A typical day in the Primary Aftercare Program looks like this:

  • Children arrive to classroom, Lead checks in with the classroom teacher dropping off  this time to gain any important insight about a particular child’s day

  • Children hang up backpacks, coats, etc.

  • Children wash their hands and find a place to sit around a table set with plates and cups

  • Both the Lead and Assistant serve food to children and guide appropriate manners

  • Children clear their places and use the bathroom

  • Children get dressed for outdoor play time

  • Children head out as a group to one or more designated areas to play

  • The Aftercare Program consists of anywhere between 24-44 children a day ranging in age from 3-14 years old

  • Depending on the light and time of year children may play outside from 3:30-5:30 or indoor options may come available

  • Faculty communicates on walkie-talkies to keep track of children, open/closed play areas, parent pick-ups, etc.

  • Faculty can guide play at times and children will guide their own play as well

  • Faculty members are encouraged to help children resolve conflict, but they may always call to the Aftercare Coordinator for help

You will be responsible for helping with snack set-up and delivery, as well as general support and supervision of children during free play time.
