Teaching at Friends School of Portland

We are an independent day school serving children from a variety of family backgrounds in grades preK through 7th grade, expecting to add 8th grade in 2008. We emphasize inquiry, reflection and action in a close community. We welcome faculty who are excited by the challenge of shaping a new school, love science and the outdoors, are strong writers and writing teachers, are committed to community service and finding the best in each person, and are guided by Quaker values. We seek teachers with strong experience with multi-age teaching in the grades and/or content areas for which they apply. All teachers play a major role in admissions, curriculum development and community building. The school collaborates with Governor Baxter School for the Deaf. Class size is 12 or under, the children are amazing, the staff is friendly and dedicated, and the setting is spectacular.
