Spanish

Beginning in grades 1-2, Spanish is introduced through songs in Music class. By grade 3, we offer Spanish classes three times a week.  The emphasis is on oral communication through games, songs, stories, art and cooking.  Older students also read and write Spanish, as well as learn about Hispanic culture and countries.

American Sign Language

We are fortunate to lease space from the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, which includes the Goveror Baxter School for the Deaf.  All Friends School children recieve lessons in American Sign Language twice a week.  Children from both schools come together to enjoy each other and to learn to communicate.
