Flu Information
The flu vaccination clinics held on Wednesday, October 28th and December 16th at the school vaccinated 36 students for seasonal flu and 48 for H1N1.
There is a tri-school plan in place for Mackworth Island to monitor student and staff health at FSP, GBSD, and the REAL School, and there is a procedure for communicating internally and externally. The school nurse, Jill Andrews gets updates from the CDC and is in close communication with all three schools to monitor student illnesses.
In the unlikely event that school is closed for a period of time, will need to have a plan to provide child care. The school would make every effort to provide academic assignments during that time.
Teachers and parents ahave been encouraged review basic prevention with students:
- Cover coughs & sneezes with your elbow or sleeve (short video link for kids)
- Wash hands thoroughly & often
- Keep hands away from the face
- Stay home if you have flu symptoms & don't return until 24 hours after symptoms end.
