Visiting Artists Week

January 18-20, 2012

Each year, FSP hosts visiting artists in the week following Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Students in grades 1-8 worked intensively with one artist for several hours on Wednesday and Thursday, January 18 & 19 exploring the theme EQUALITY. Students were able to choose from the following workshops: movement & dance with Lon Church, improv with David LaGraffe, video production with Jo Israelson, portraiture with Anne Sibley O'Brien, writing & poetry with Martin Steingesser, audio documentary with Molly Haley, and African drumming with Michael Wingfield. Children in preschool and kindergarten worked with potter Nancy Carroll. Performances and presentations occurred at the all-school assembly on January 20.

We are so grateful to these artists for making Visiting Artists Week happen. The kids approached their workshops with enthusiasm and we are always impressed with their creativity and how much they learn!
