Applying to Friends School of Portland

  •  Fill out a request information form online at friendsschoolportland.org to join our admissions inquiry list.

  • We strongly recommend attending at least one of the following events: Admissions Open House (October or January), come for a tour, and/or a Virtual Information Session so you can have a strong understanding of our school to see if it is the right choice for your child and family.

  •  Submit the online application.

  • Provide a transcript release to your child’s current school so they can forward relevant transcripts to FSP (for applicants entering grades 1-8).

  • Confirm that your child’s current teacher has submitted the online teacher reference (if applicable).

  • Depending on the amount of openings we have available, the application materials (see below), and a variety of factors, we invite some applicants to come in for a visit. The applicant visit is the time when the child can see the school and participate in the classroom. We also host parents to have an informal chat with our Head of School (either in person of online).

  • An email and letter communicating the admission decision will be sent on March 15. We ask that you confirm your space in two weeks’ time, by March 29.

 Checklist for Application

Your Online Application is only considered complete once we have all of the following:

  • Online application forms (once submitted, the system will send a referral link to the current teacher to fill out a teacher reference)

  • $40 application fee

  • Current teacher reference (if your child has been in a school setting previously)

  • Transcript from current school (for applicants entering grades 1-8, download within the application)

The teacher reference will be emailed to your child’s current teacher only after you submit the Online Application. For this reason, please submit the application at least a week prior to the deadline. In addition, please submit the transcript release to your child's current school as soon as possible as it can take up to two weeks for schools to send over transcript information to us.
